Having a Degree, Being Involved or an All-Rounder is Not Enough,

The things we have always been taught in life is to either be really good in academic or be an all-rounder. Those are the two main routes in life that we were most taught off. But there is more than that,

I began to reflect on myself, that even when (insyAllah) I graduate with a Law Degree, would that mean I'm an intellectual or smart student ? Would I feel that I am a smart student myself ? They say, be the person who you wish to meet, Am I even close to being the person I wish myself to meet?  Would I feel satisfied with what I have achieved in my 3-4 years of university life ? Or am I just another graduate who appears smart based on papers ?

This post is never to tell you or myself on the solutions to my questions but is definitely good to ponder on to keep track of ourselves. To open up how we look at things and experiences we have gained in life. To think of when we make future decisions.

10 Reasons Why I Don't Drink :)

Hi there !

So here's a post, on why I personally don't drink (and maybe some valid reasons for those out there who drink, intending to stop anyways )

1. It can be unattractive
- I've seen my friends lying on the floor suddenly in the kitchen at 5AM, throwing themselves around guys, throwing up at the toilet bowl, and yeah if you intend to look good, getting drunk is definitely not one of the ways. Some guys even find it a turn off to look at a girl who's to drunk. Anyhow, you can let loose of yourself and have a good time still, just with limits, which is definitely assured if you're sober !

2. You can't remember the things you did when you were too drunk
- You might do things you'll regret. Even my British friends say that to me. Definitely a way to get yourself out of trouble.

3. Save money !
- Yes, you get to save a lot of money by not splurging on alcohol ! A bottle of vodka would cost an average of 10 pounds and with 10 pounds you can buy at least 3-4 tubs of Ben&Jerry's ! Which to me personally, is worth more spending on than some drinks that would only last a night.

4. The picture says it all !

5. A burden
- Sometimes , you can actually burden someone else with your drinking habits. For instance, when you're drunk or even tipsy, you would throw yourself to guys and your friends would feel the courtesy to take care of you.

6. For a real good time !
- Nobody says 'if you don't drink, you're not gonna have a good time' . If you intend to go clubbing or to pubs, just let loose, enjoy the music and have fun ! Doesn't necessarily have to come with the idea of being drunk or tipsy :)

7. A healthy lifestyle
- Drinking has more bad side effects than good side effects (only if you don't include in medical reasoning). And most of the time, hung overs restrain you from having an early fresh jump start the next day !

8. Mentally Challenge Yourself
- To actually not drink in a crowd of people who drink can be a peer pressure to people sometimes. So if you could actually not drink when everyone is drinking (and have a good time at the same time), congratulations ! You have managed to prove yourself that you have a strong will and mind!

9. It's not the solution to your problems
- When you come across problems, you tend to want to forget all of it by just drinking. But that's not the way. You can put things aside for awhile by going for a run, watching comedies or games, go out with your friends, or even gaming. Drinking is only one of the many not-so-suggested ways. Sometimes you might even get hooked to it to an extent where you become an alcoholic and BOOM, there goes another trouble to worry about in your life !

Last but not least,
As a muslim, if you drink, for 40 days your blood will somehow-rather-be contaminated
- I psychologically tell myself that if I ever drink, for 40 days, my prayers will not be accepted (in a way) as my body is contaminated. And in that 40 days, anything can happen. For instance, my mum could've passed away within that 40 days and my prayers wouldn't even mean a thing for her.

Do's and Don'ts in a Relationship

Hey guys ! Frankly speaking, Im not an expert in relationships. I've only been in one serious relationship my whole life (that lasted for only 5 years) , but I can sorta kinda figure how relationships work really. Its pretty simple, I think.  It just gets complicated when you ponder too much about the unnecessary stuff.

I usually go by the quote that ,
' IF ONE LOVES ANOTHER, ONE SHOULD KNOW HOW TO TREAT THE OTHER'

But anyways,
Here's my perspective on the Do's and Don'ts in a relationship !

DO !

1) Give each other space
Girls : Give your guys space; like gaming or bro times . They really just wanna chill with their bros once in awhile. Its not like they're flirting with other girls at that moment. So, just chill :)
Guys : Give your girls space a little, but generally most girls don't quite enjoy too much space. But if you don't give them space that they need ( not like they want it ) , they're gonna be too dependent on you and in the long run, that ain't good . Do show you care guys !
Both Girls & Guys : Space is necessary for a healthy relationship ! For both of you to grow

2) Trust
Girls : Trust your guys, but not a 100%. Just trust them enough not to appear clingy or bother them with infinity questions on every girl they talk to. If he cheats on you, that's his lost. Don't try to work things out with a guy who doesn't know how to treat you right.
Guys : Trust your girls ? Hahaha I really don't know much about this. Most girls like it when guys get a little jealous but too much can be nuisance I guess. Show like you care atleast, no matter who she goes out with .

3) Talk with each other, Communicate !
Both Guys & Girls : Seriously people, you guys just have to stop fighting too much in relationships ! Negotiate, talk about things. There is no necessity to ask for a break up after every single fight. Discuss what you guys want , likes and dislikes , and try to work things out from there. Pretty sure you guys can work things out together. Don't just expect one to understand another without even telling each other what's wrong.

4) Respect
There's just really not much to say about this. I dont find the necessity for anyone to be taught on why they should respect each other. Hahaha.

5) Apologize
Apologize to each other for every small mistake. But then again, don't apologize too much cause it can seriously get annoying.
DON'Ts !

1) Have a third person in a relationship
Both Guys & Girls : A relationship is between just the 2 of you. You don't need another person to be in between trying to solve any problems you guys are facing. Just try your best to stick to just the both of you

2) Throw yourself in the relationship too much
Girls : Most of my girlfriends tend to throw themselves into the relationships too much and end up regretting it. Save yourself some dignity cause there is no assurance that the guy you're currently dating is your 'happily ever after'

3) Expect it to be one sided
Girls & Guys : The thing that somehow sucks about relationships is that you have to negotiate. That's why some people enjoy being single more ! But yeah, negotiate with one another. Give and take :)

4) It's not a Disney Channel Movie or a Romance Movie
Girls : Seriously do not expect a freaking happily ever after like the disney movies. Real relationships are just not like that. Stop day dreaming on the Prince Charming and get back to reality.

5) Expect too much from each other
Girls & Guys : Expecting too much from each other can hurt one another. It can also make your head pretty bothered thinking about each other's expectation so frequently. Just hope the best for each other, and really, stop giving indirect messages or indirect expectations

6) Fight on social media
DON'T . Just don't !

7) Give up trying
Never give up trying to work things out together. But if ever tonnes of trials, and it doesn't work out, I guess it's just not meant to be then .

Nevertheless, if you're single now, enjoy it !
You'd get to spend more time to work on yourself rather than a relationship or each other :)
When the time comes, the time comes.

Put your head back, chill and get high on life !

The Lazy Cooks Buttermilk Chicken !

Hey guys ! So a couple of my friends have been asking me for recipes,
And how I cook as a student,
So, here's one of the many (hopefully) posts I'll be writing,
On how to cook when you're lazy // also student cookings !

The original recipe is a bit too sweet for me and I quite like cooking spontaneously (with love) , so here's the edited version :

Ingredients :
1) about 3 sticks of curry leaves
2) 2 Chilies ( preferably cili padi )
3) About 1/2 stick of SCS Butter
4) Slightly less than 1/2 tin of Condensed Milk
5) Oats or Corn Flour

So, its really simple.

1) Pour a little oil into the hot pan and a pinch of salt (to reduce the 'hot' effects of adding chili into hot oil)
2) Fry the curry leaves and cili !
3) Add butter till it melts completely ( add as much or as little as you wish)
4) Add condensed milk and let it boil ( it will combine with the butter)
* I add my condensed milk little by little. I stop pouring in the condensed milk once the sauce looks like of the perfect ratio. But its usually slightly less than the butter as it could cause excess sweetness*
5) Add a little bit of just oats or cornflour (diluted with water) into the sauce to slightly thicken the sauce

and there you go ! The buttermilk sauce :)

Note : Its better to fry the chicken first before adding the sauce into it. BUT , if you're lazy like me, I usually would buy frozen chicken popcorns and fry for 3 minutes only. Ill pour the sauce on it after and it still tastes as good as frying your own chicken !

The recipe doesn't have to be exact but its roughly there. I usually don't follow exact measurements. Try to estimate the condensed milk measurement by adding it in slowly once it starts boiling .

All the best !

The Weekend Gamble ; From Colchester to London to Oxford

HI !
Frankly , I've never been to the UK so this is kinda my first time to travel around this part of the world and I'm so pumped to travel and post more about travelling around here more often !

Anyways,
Selamat Hari Raya Aidil Adha :)
And,
Here's my post on my Weekend Gamble to Oxford !

I left campus on the 62 bus to North Station in Colchester about 1PM , from University of Essex, took roughly about 20 minutes to arrive roughly. Oh, and was travelling alone to London btw ! Haha. For those who might go to London through the North Station, there's an interval of roughly every 15 minutes of train so it's not that long of a wait :) and the ticket was about 30 pounds for an open return without a railway card. Try to get a railway card if possible for discounts btw.

Arrived at the Liverpool Street and met with the travel buddy for the weekend, Azam !

IMPORTANT ! If you're about to travel around London, do get yourself the Oyster Card at the train station. You could use it around tubes and buses, basically almost all public transports in London as far as I know off.

Got on the train heading to Marble Arch, crossed the street towards Hyde Park and waited for the X90 or OXFORD TUBE bus for a couple of minutes. If I'm not mistaken, about 20 minutes of intervals for the buses. X90 cost me 11 Pounds return ticket, Oxford Tube would probably cost about 13 Pounds, but its more of a comfortable coach.

This is all like a gamble to me honestly, to come down to London in the first week of settling in the UK and heading to Oxford over the weekends !

So we made it to Oxford Brookes University after an hour and a half, (felt like it was shorter), and met our subang friend, Ridhwan !

Arrived quite late though, about 6PM. We couldn't do much though, so stayed in and cooked Buttermilk Chicken. Yes, there's a tesco that sells Halal Chicken here in Oxford as well !

OMG sedap gila kays dapat makan ayam, its been a week long since I last had chicken kays !
Slept over one of the nicest girl I've ever met's house, Teekay ; for the night :)

Since it was a Raya Haji weekend, the Kumpulan UMNO Oxford made a gathering on the sunny Sunday. Woke up around 10am the next day,

got a cab to Oxford Uni and joined the KUMNOX gathering. They served the best malay food ever. Alhamdulillah, malaysian food !

Met a lot of great intellectual & interesting people here, definitely. And the event was really fun !
But it was getting a little late around 2PM so we headed to the famous Oxford City Centre.

Walked along Queen Street for a couple of hours, passed by Radcliffe Square which was B-E-A-UTIFUL !

Definitely one of the must visit places in Oxford. Me and Azam were actually walking to a nearby mosque at Bath Street (took us 15-20 mins of walk to get there), when we passed by this square and a couple of other tourist-y spots .

That's the Riverside Terrace, for those who come hoping for some romantic paddle in Oxford .
Note : The buildings and architecture in Oxford are mostly old and castle looking. They're so beautiful !

And here's the mosque at Bath Street,

Around 6PM, we headed back to Oxford Brookes and decided to eat at Atomic Burger. It was superbly delicious ! Note that it comes with making a hole in your pocket too. An average of 8 Pounds per burger so I shared with Azam one burger. Lols. The vegetarian burger here tasted as good as beef burger though ! And it's a really cool concept Burger Shop.

That's Evon btw, she was kinda like our tour guide for the day in Oxford. A good friend of Azam's .

And that's the Vegetarian Burger and Fried Sweet Potatoes. Yummmms .

Initially , I was suppose to head back to uni on Sunday night but it got too late. We were still chilling in Oxford at about 7.30 PM. So we decided that I should stay in London for one night, it was either that or to head back to Essex at about 11 PM which was quite dangerous. Arrived at London around 10 PM, said my goodbyes to Azam and chilled with my good friend staying near Hyde Park, Aqil.

Part of the gamble was that I had to crash over my friend's place in London last minute, Fauzan ! *phew, nasib baik ada member/relative kat London ; Queen's Mary *.  Gotta admit though, got a bit of an adrenaline with all the spontaneous plannings but overall, it was definitely a fun and adventurous weekend ! Left early about 8AM and headed to the Mile End station,

Got back to Uni the next day, Monday, around 10AM and still had a couple of hours to get ready for the first class of my first year, Contract Law, which was only for an hour. Could've spent more time in London though. Haha .Oh wells. No rush, will be here for the next 3 years anyways !

Alhamdulillah and thanks everyone for such an awesome weekend , God Bless :)
Special thanks to Azam for making it all possible, just a day before the trip ! It was all unplanned, kinda I guess is one of the fun part of the trip !

Kays, gotta get back to my books. Would definitely write about travelling soon, hopefully !

Shapes&Sizes vs BeingFit

Its been awhile since I last blogged, but Meghan Trainor made a point in her 'All About That Bass Song' , so here's my thoughts on weight and being fit !

So as an intro,
I'm actually a 20 year old blogger.
And I'm underweight, not that proud of it but yeah.

We were taught that weight was everything at a very young age.
Its like a peer pressure thing,
One cannot be TOO FAT or TOO SKINNY .
When the focus should be,
WE SHOULD ALWAYS BE FIT.

No matter what shape or size or age or colour you are,
You should always focus on being FIT .
Especially to those young people out there including myself,
Its pretty ridiculous to be young yet unfit to even survive at least a couple of miles.
Cause even elderly people can do it and are more fit than us,
Without an excuse.

And that old smile on their face with that fit body feeling good about themself,
Is priceless :)
So, let's put a picture of some old random fit man feeling good about himself here shall we , hehehe

Just a thought in mind,
I have always quite liked the quote,
'My body is my temple'
And no, doesn't mean you're skinny you're fit.

Nevertheless, feel good about yourself all the time :)
Because life itself is difficult,
Infact, about 40 000 Americans die every year due to suicide.
So, give yourself a round of applause ! And no, don't literally clap now, cause it'd be odd if you were clapping suddenly while reading a blog post.

Anyways,
Its not about how you are looked by others,
Its how you are looked by yourself. And you should feel happy about yourself, you deserve that :)

So get yourself out there,
Get your heart pumping !
Cause one day, you'll wish you started today !
DO IT FOR YOURSELF :)

So,
Stay Fit, Stay Healthy.

Vanilla Muffins with Chocolate Chips

I really love vanilla muffins but since I'm a chocolate lover too , I decided to take make vanilla muffins with added chocolate chips (would've used Mars bars if I had any at home)

So here it goes ;
1 cup castor sugar
1 egg beaten
2 cups flour
2 tsp baking powder
1 cup milk
1/4 melted butter
2 1/2 tsp vanilla

To sprinkle on top of muffins before baking ;
1 1/2 tsp sugar
1/8 cinammon

Bake at 190degrees, for 15-20 mins
Fill only 2/3 of the containers only
Do not overbeat :)

I added chocolate chips but this vanilla muffins recipe is delicious enough to be added with other stuff like Mars bars too :)

I extracted the recipe from food.com ,

Enjoy !

Churros !

Back in 2008 I went to Australia with my siblings and had the best churros experience ever @ San Churros!

Since there's not a lot of places in KL that serves churros , I decided to try my own :)

This recipe is extracted from allrecipes.com and by far suits my taste the best so here it goes anyways,

All you need is ;
1. 1 cup of water
2.  2 1/2 tablespoons white sugar
3. 1/2 teaspoon salt
4. 2 tablespoon vegetable oil
5. 1 cup of flour
6. 2 quarts of oil for frying
7. 1/2 cup icing sugar
8. 1 teaspoon cinammon

- Combine 1-4 together and bring to boil
- Once boiling , remove from heat and add flour
- Stir until it takes the form of a ball
- I personally would roll the flour together by hand once the mixture has cooled down , used a fork to create the stripes for better crisp
- Used Nutella as my chocolate dip !
- Try to avoid frying too many at times as overcrowding might lead to the inside of the churros being undercooked

So there you go :)

Enjoy !

Day 4 : Surfing @ Kuta

Today's the day that we ticked off surfing from our bucketlist ! And it was superbly awesome !

One of the best things we did in Bali and it was personally affordable to me. For US $35 , you get a group of 2-4 class for about 2.5 hours :) how awesome it that.

Our coach was Johan ; a Muslim from Jawa. We chose Odyssey since it seems to be pretty professional. And when we asked around , most of the people recommend Odyssey or Quicksilver.
Personal advice , make sure you have enough energy to go against current and surf for 2 hours. Hahaha.

Our class started about 1pm and ended at almost 4pm. Feeling exhausted , some of us went for a massage and some went to do our last minute souvenir shopping. We then headed to the airport using a meter cab around 6 pm.

Best advice regarding transportation throughout the trip , always use a meter cab and definitely never give up negotiating for a lower price :)

Was honestly one of the best trips with friends I've ever gone for :) we really fully utilised all 4 days we had there. And if any of you are heading there anytime soon , I hope you'll have a great time like we did. Here's a list of prices that might come in handy if you intend to go there too (note that some might be left out but feel free to ask)

I uploaded a simple video on YouTube , Four Girls in Bali , to summarise our trip :) but kinda haven't finished editing the anti-shake yet as most videos were recorded while I was walking. No harm watching for now. Hope youll enjoy it !

PS ; if you're a huge magnum fan like I am , do not forget to try the magnum they have there as it varies to what we have in Malaysia !

I tried out the Chocolate-Caramel Magnum and Raina gave Espresso Magnum a shot which both was delicious in the sunny weather :)

Day 3 : Tanah Lot, Ubud & Seminyak

Rise and shine ! Booked a Supir (aka Driver) for about 10 hours for only RM 100. (Can't recall how much it was in IDR). Driver picked us up around 10.30 am and we headed of to FlapJacks first for our brunch. It was superbly delicious , located by the Kuta Beach.

I love waffles and chocolate but personal advice , do not order one on your own if you think you're gonna get sick of chocolate.

We then headed for Ubud which was roughly about an hour's drive so we slept throughout our way there. Hahahaha. Anyhow , we ate at this place called Ubud Sawah Padi which was the BEST FOOD CHOICE of the trip !

Ordered 2 sets of this 'Crispy Duck' as it was too delicious !!! And was only for 80,000 IDR each. Took a few pictures and headed for Tanah Lot for the sunset. It took about 30 minutes to get to Tanah Lot from Ubud.

That's us waiting for the sunset at Tanah Lot (couldn't upload pictures of the beautiful sunset but no harm in googling it I guess ? Haha) . Stayed on for the Kecak Dance ; Cultural Dance and then headed to Seminyak for a superduper short stop.

At Seminyak , we checked out Potato Head which was one of the highly recommended things to do in Bali. But we didn't do any early reservations and were out of time so we strolled around just to see the place and headed back to our hotel. The area around Seminyak was pretty nice though. Seemed more like a foreigner place // tourist area and I guess you can say it looked like Bangkok-ish.

Later on that night , we headed to Legian and had our party night !

Day 2 : Nusa Lembongan , Bali

Took the speed boat to Nusa Lembongan at 10 am today. I think it was under JJ Cruise. And they picked us up from our hotel about 9 am. The trip back and forth was about 350,000 IDR only. We managed to negotiate for a cheaper price as we walked around Kuta the night before.

Arrived about 10.30-ish at the Mangrove point (due to the high tides), and honestly , the island was pretty isolated and did not provide much public services. So be prepare for that if you didn't choose any packages on the island like we did. Since none of us could ride a bike , we hailed a truck to Dreambeach which cost us 300,000 IDR.

We couldn't do much water activities as the beach was kinda rocky and had really strong currents. Nobody was actually swimming there or at the beach when we were there (such irony). We walked around to Sandy Beach upto Mushroom Bay which took us around 30 minutes overall (and yes, it was tiring. Hahaha). Ate by Mushroom Bay and it was already about 2 pm. We decided to go for snorkelling which was only about RM 45 ! Well , the person who brought us for snorkelling didn't seem professional and I wouldn't say it was a very safe snorkel but how bad can snorkelling get anyways ? (Would upload videos of our snorkelling trip on YouTube soon) .

The snorkelling trip ended about 3.30 pm and we took the bike back to DreamBeach where we had the truck to send us back to the Central. About 5pm , we headed back to Kuta Beach. The ride was really bumpy probably because the tide was high already about that time (which explains why most boats head back by 3 to 4pm).

Came back to our hotel , Serela Kuta and had our break. Then , Sarah , Raina and I decided to head out for flapjacks about 10.30 pm and apparently they were about to close their shop already . So be sure the next time before you go do check on the closing time ! Hahaha.

Ended up watching the World Cup 2014 at a Sports Bar with Raina and it was definitely an experience to remember. It's different compared to the KL Mamak experience as there were many foreigners betting on shots and some were actually Americans themselves (the match was between Germany vs USA) .

Came back about 2 am after the awesome match and that was the end of Day 2 in Bali :)

Friday 27 June 2014

Jalan Legian and the Driver,

So it's the last night in Bali (and yes I will posts more Bali posts when I have ample of time to do so) , we decided to check out one of the places that every tourist must go to ,

Jalan Legian !

We went for the SkyGarden Club at Jalan Legian which we had to pay 150,000 IDR for entry. The club had about 7 floors of different song genre to burst your ears with. Oh , and I just grabbed a tin of coke which I ended up only opening when we were heading out as I was afraid of anyone 'spiking' my drink and cause I don't drink alcohol so I wouldn't want any spilling into my drink.

It was really interesting to see all foreigners enjoying themselves at one place. There were a few ugly 'drunk' moments we came across with though but that's kinda normal in any other club anyways. Oh yeah ! It opens from 9 till late so don't come so early. Haha. There were many clubs around though like the Bounty which had like a foam party. And a few live performances around the area. But best is for you to do your own research if you really love clubbing cause we basically went for the experience and to see how the 'club culture' is here :)

Anyways ,
We left the Club around 2 and took a cab home , where we met our first ever Muslim taxi driver. He was the most soft spoken driver we've came acrossed with and taught us a lot on halal food and mosques around Kuta as he was driving us back home.

One thing super adorable though was that he was treating us like his own daughters , asking us why we had tattoos (which was actually henna) and why aren't we heading back for Ramadhan (which we actually are tomorrow). I somehow rather found him inspiring in a way cause it's rare to see Muslims being so caring and soft to younger Muslims rather than being aggressive.

This might be the most un-directional post I have ever written but I thought that one day I might wanna look back to tonight as part of a memory in Bali that touched me :)

Wednesday 25 June 2014

Day 1 : Bali

So it's the end of alevels ! And time for #fourgirlsinbali !

We took the cab from Shah Alam , booked under Sunlight Cab. Which took only about 35 minutes to arrive at Klia 2 ! Oh and we left around 6.15 am :)
That's Sarah, Dils and Raina (from left to right)

We arrived about 3 hours later and the weather here was superb ! Around 28degrees only. Phew. Took a cab for 100,000 IDR to arrive to our first destination , our hotel , Serela Hotel Kuta. Made a deal with our taxi driver to pick us up about 5 and headed on to the most beautiful place to eat by the beach ,
Jimbaran Bay :)

We arrived at the perfect timing and paid our driver 200,000 IDR back and fourth to Kuta Beach after the dinner. Our meal , which we ordered the Red Snap (cooked with bumbu Bali) and Cumi-Cumi (deep fried squids) was delicious ! And overall with a few mineral water and fruits for dessert was only about 504,000 IDR !

After the dinner itself , we decided to take a stroll by the stores nearby the Kuta Beach for the first time :) made booking and paid deposit to head to Nusa Lembongan tomorrow by speed boat.
It's definitely better to negotiate the price here rather than booking online to me personally. It costs us only 350,000 IDR back and forth to Lembongan (and will definitely update on how the trip will be tomorrow ! )

I have to go , cause I need to figure out on how to swim with hijab since I forgot to bring a swimming cap and hijab swimwear. Hahahaha. First time going to the beach with hijab ever.

Well , that's it so far. First day of the Four Girls in Bali. With loves.
